Ahn Bo-hyun and Lee Joo-bin finally let their long-suppressed emotions explode, setting the small screen ablaze with a decisive romantic turning point.
In the January 20 broadcast of episode 6 of tvN’s Spring Fever, Seon Jae-gyu (Ahn Bo-hyun) and Yoon Bom (Lee Joo-bin) crossed the emotional line they had been holding back, sealing their feelings with a kiss that marked a major shift in their relationship. The episode recorded an average nationwide rating of 4.9 percent and a peak of 6.2 percent, continuing its upward trend (Nielsen Korea, paid platforms).
That day, Yoon Bom acknowledged her feelings for Seon Jae-gyu but stepped back in front of the real-world barrier between a parent and a teacher. When she tried to draw a line and said they should no longer be entangled, Seon Jae-gyu responded with a calm yet weighty promise: “I’ll wait. The day Han-gyeol graduates will be our first day.” His resolve to wait two years stirred both fluttering anticipation and bittersweet emotion.
But emotions could not be controlled so easily. Yoon Bom was overwhelmed with jealousy after seeing Seon Jae-gyu with a mysterious woman (played by Son Yeo-eun), and rumors surrounding their relationship only deepened her misunderstanding. She appeared at school more dressed up than usual, catching his attention and adding a lighthearted touch through her unexpected transformation.
Seon Jae-gyu, too, could not hide his excitement at Yoon Bom’s changed aura. Still determined to keep his promise, he deliberately avoided her and tried to discipline himself. A break-in scare at Yoon Bom’s house brought an unexpected twist. Seon Jae-gyu, who had gone to her place, was mistaken for a burglar and taken to the police station. It was later revealed that the real “suspect” was a locksmith who had come for repairs, creating a bittersweet yet comical episode.
Afterward, Yoon Bom volunteered to replace the village door locks for Seon Jae-gyu and even knelt before the locksmith, showing her desperation. To win over the locksmith, a devoted fan of singer Song Ga-in, she even asked for help from her estranged mother Jeong Nan-hee (played by Na Young-hee), revealing the depth of her sincerity.
Once he learned the truth, Seon Jae-gyu went straight to Yoon Bom’s house. She poured out her bottled-up emotions, saying, “You told me to trust you. How could you be with another woman after not even two days?” He replied softly, “I’m sorry. I couldn’t wait,” and kissed her. The kiss ending sent viewers’ heart rates soaring and signaled the start of their full-fledged romance.
Meanwhile, Choi Yi-jun (Cha Seo-won), who came to Sinsoo-eup seeking revenge against Seon Jae-gyu, hinted that he would clear Yoon Bom’s name from her past false accusation as an affair teacher, foreshadowing a new conflict. Attention is now focused on where these tangled emotions will lead.
