BTS Pursues Historic Performance at Gwanghwamun and Gyeongbokgung for March Comeback, A Fusion of K-Heritage and K-Pop

 

Global superstars BTS are planning to hold a massive performance in the heart of Seoul, specifically around the Gwanghwamun and Gyeongbokgung Palace area, to coincide with their highly anticipated comeback this March.

According to industry sources and local reports on the 19th, HYBE, the group's agency, recently submitted an application to the Korea Heritage Service for permission to use several historic sites for a K-pop performance featuring BTS in late March. The project is tentatively titled "K-Heritage and K-Pop Fusion Performance."

The requested locations include Gyeongbokgung Palace (specifically the Geunjeongmun and Heungryemun gates), the Gwanghwamun Plaza and Woldae (ceremonial platform) area, and the Sungnyemun Gate. The Cultural Heritage Committee under the Korea Heritage Service is scheduled to review and deliberate on the permit application on the 20th.

In response to these reports, a representative from HYBE stated that discussions regarding the Gwanghwamun performance are currently underway. They added that official details regarding the final location and schedule will be provided once a definitive decision is reached.

BTS is set to make their grand return on March 20 with the release of their 5th studio album, ARIRANG. This new album is expected to highlight the group's roots and identity as a team originating from Korea, capturing the profound emotions of longing and deep love that resonate within the Korean spirit.

This would not be the first time BTS has used Gyeongbokgung Palace as a stage. In 2020, they showcased breathtaking performances at the Geunjeongjeon Hall and Gyeonghoeru Pavilion. Those performances were aired on NBC's "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," earning worldwide acclaim for promoting the exquisite beauty of Korean traditional architecture alongside modern pop culture.

If the upcoming performance is approved, BTS is expected to once again captivate the world by blending Korea's traditional aesthetic with their signature K-pop performance, delivering a powerful message to the global music market.
