Kwon Irang of the virtual idol group SKINZ made a powerful impression by appearing as the first virtual contestant in the history of “Show Me the Money.”
On the January 15 broadcast of Mnet’s “Show Me the Money 12,” the program revealed the “a cappella rap mission” stage featuring contestants who had passed the preliminary application round.
On that day, Kwon Irang appeared in the on-site preliminary audition as a virtual artist for the first time, instantly drawing the attention of fellow contestants. Producer ZICO, who served as a judge, also could not hide his surprise at the emergence of the first-ever virtual participant.
Standing before the judges, Kwon Irang showcased an unexpected level of skill with wild rapping highlighted by a rough and powerful vocal tone. Although he failed to receive the pass necklace and was eliminated, his challenge left a strong impression by expanding the activity domain of virtual idols into the hip-hop survival genre.
SKINZ, the group to which Kwon Irang belongs, continues to grow through diverse music and content. Following this challenge, the group has drawn significant attention and is signaling a wide range of future activities.
