Veteran sports stars Seo Jang-hoon and Ahn Jung-hwan are leading the search for the next generation of sportainers.
Premiering on January 17, JTBC’s new variety program Yes Man is an abbreviation of “Yes, Entertainment Sports Man.” The survival-style variety show brings legendary athletes onto the entertainment stage, where they put their variety-show competitiveness to the test. Through talk segments, quizzes, and a range of missions, contestants are evaluated on their sense of entertainment, with each episode delivering stark contrasts of victory and defeat based on the results.
Each episode of Yes Man is divided into a first half and a second half. In the first half, participants engage in topic-based talk segments that test their quick thinking and wit. In the second half, unpredictable quiz missions are introduced to assess their entertainment instincts. All performances are converted into scores, and the top scorer of each episode receives the Yes Man Medal Badge.
However, the competition offers more than just glory. The lowest-ranked contestant in each episode is barred from participating in the next recording session, with the vacant spot filled by a new legendary sports star. As a result, the lineup and dynamics shift dramatically each week, heightening the tension as viewers watch to see who claims the medal, who faces elimination, and which new sports star joins the show.
Guiding this intense entertainment survival battle are coaches Seo Jang-hoon and Ahn Jung-hwan, both widely recognized as leading sportainers. Seo Jang-hoon, a Korean basketball legend who holds records including the most career points in KBL history, has established a unique presence in the entertainment world through his sharp remarks and fearless on-screen persona. Ahn Jung-hwan, a key figure behind South Korea’s historic run to the semifinals at the 2002 Korea–Japan World Cup, has also stood out across various variety programs with his candid style and keen sense of humor. As senior sportainers, the two will rigorously assess the entertainment potential of the next generation.
The production team stated, “We wanted to create a stage where athletes dreaming of entering the entertainment world can showcase their talent and passion,” adding, “Inquiries from legendary players have been pouring in. Viewers can look forward to fresh laughter brought by new variety-show gems.”
Yes Man premieres on January 17 at 7:10 p.m.
