Singer Song Ga-in has marked a meaningful return by joining “Miss Trot 4” as a master.
Song appeared as a master on the first episode of TV CHOSUN’s “Miss Trot 4,” which aired on the 18th. As the program’s first-ever champion, her appearance signifies a triumphant homecoming to the stage where it all began, nearly seven years later.
Ahead of the Round 1 performances, masters walked onto the set one by one. Contestants watching from the waiting room reacted immediately to Song Ga-in’s entrance, saying, “Song Ga-in sunbaenim is here,” and “My heart is pounding,” unable to hide their nerves. Taking her seat at the judging table, Song Ga-in smiled and said, “It feels new to be sitting here.”
Before judging began, she offered warm encouragement to the contestants, saying, “You must be very nervous, but if you simply do what you’ve always done, good results will come.” Once the competition started, she evaluated the stages with calm, focused composure, showing none of the hesitation expected from a first-time judge.
She responded especially strongly to skilled performers, offering generous reactions and praise. After watching contestant Gil Ryeowon, who has a nursing background, she said, “She’s essentially a professional. She’s pretty and sings well. Truly the best,” expressing clear affection toward her junior singer.
To another contestant with eight years of stage experience who said, “Dieting is the easiest thing, and trot is the hardest,” Song replied, “When this competition ends, you’ll have lost 20 kilograms. It will be a three-month battle,” capturing the intensity of the “Miss Trot” competition.
As the inaugural champion who helped ignite the “Miss Trot” phenomenon, Song Ga-in’s participation as a master adds symbolic weight to the program’s narrative—a pioneer returning to choose the next leading performer.
Meanwhile, Song Ga-in will meet her global fans at her concert “Gaindal The Rise,” to be held at the Pechanga Theater in Los Angeles on February 14 at 7 p.m. and February 15 at 6 p.m. (local time).
