[한국대학신문 이정환 기자] Chung-Ang University has completed preparations for the new semester through the implementation of ESG(Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices.
On Tuesday, August 25th, the faculty and staff volunteer group carried out a campus cleanup volunteer activity around the Seoul campus in preparation for the start of the fall semester. On the day, more than 150 faculty and staff members participated in the event, including President Park Sang-gue, Provost Park Kwang-yong, Vice President for Research Seong Maeng-je, Executive Vice President for Administration Lee Chan-kyu, as well as key administrative leaders such as Dean of Faculty and Academic Affairs Rhim Shin-jae, Director of Planning and Budget Chang Hang-bae, Director of General Affairs Park Ki-seok, Director of Information and Communications Hong Young-hun, Director of Procurement Kim Wan-soo, and Director of Construction and Maintenance Yang Seung-man.
The event was organized to encourage voluntary participation in community service among university members, promote mutual growth with the local community, and advance the values of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management. President Park Sang-gue and the participants carried out litter picking and environmental cleanup activities in key areas of the Seoul campus for two hours starting at 10 a.m., and afterward, they shared a specially prepared lunch with students, offering encouragement and support to one another. Despite the hot weather, many faculty and staff members participated actively, adding greater meaning to volunteering.
President Park Sang-gue stated, "I sincerely thank all the faculty and staff who took part in this meaningful volunteer activity despite the hot weather. As the importance of ESG management continues to grow, I ask for your continued dedication to Chung-Ang University's development in the new semester as well."
After completing the cleanup activities, the faculty and staff volunteer group, led by Director of General Affairs Park Ki-seok, visited the Heukseok Police Station to express their gratitude for the ongoing efforts in maintaining safety on and around campus, and to request continued cooperation in ensuring community safety around the campus during the upcoming semester.
Each semester, Chung-Ang University carries out various faculty and staff initiatives to put ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management into practice, including environmental cleanup activities at both the Seoul Campus and the Davinci Campus. Notably, last year, Chung-Ang University ranked first among universities located in Seoul in the 'University Climate Crisis Response Action Ranking' announced by the Climate Change Center, further solidifying its status as an environmentally friendly institution.
