SES Expands DTH Services in Brazil

In a significant development for the satellite pay-TV industry in Brazil, SES has announced a strategic partnership with Mileto Tecnologia to enhance direct-to-home (DTH) television services across the country. This agreement enables Mileto to utilize the SES-6 satellite positioned at the 40.5 degrees West orbital slot, a prime location for broadcasting, to distribute a wide array of high-definition channels to over 600,000 households.

This collaboration comes on the heels of Mileto's recent acquisition of Oi TV, a major player in Brazil's satellite TV market. By integrating Oi TV's infrastructure and subscriber base, Mileto aims to expand its service reach and improve content delivery to Brazilian viewers. Roberto Guenzburger, CEO of Mileto Tecnologia, emphasized the importance of SES's role in this transition, stating, "A key part of the success of our Oi TV acquisition was the partnership with SES and knowing they would be able to seamlessly transition all existing subscribers without any impact to the customer experience.
