SES Expands DTH Services in Brazil

경기연합신문 2025-04-07 19:43:00 신고

In a significant development for the satellite pay-TV industry in Brazil, SES has announced a strategic partnership with Mileto Tecnologia to enhance direct-to-home (DTH) television services across the country. This agreement enables Mileto to utilize the SES-6 satellite positioned at the 40.5 degrees West orbital slot, a prime location for broadcasting, to distribute a wide array of high-definition channels to over 600,000 households.

This collaboration comes on the heels of Mileto's recent acquisition of Oi TV, a major player in Brazil's satellite TV market. By integrating Oi TV's infrastructure and subscriber base, Mileto aims to expand its service reach and improve content delivery to Brazilian viewers. Roberto Guenzburger, CEO of Mileto Tecnologia, emphasized the importance of SES's role in this transition, stating, "A key part of the success of our Oi TV acquisition was the partnership with SES and knowing they would be able to seamlessly transition all existing subscribers without any impact to the customer experience. The reliability and performance of SES’s service ensures we can reach customers in any corner of Brazil and deliver the high-quality content they demand."

Deepak Mathur, Global Head of Media at SES, highlighted the significance of this agreement, saying, "This new agreement with Mileto underscores the continued value of satellite for pay-TV distribution, with its ability to cost-effectively deliver a wide range of high-quality content to viewers across large geographic areas, whether urban, rural or remote. We look forward to partnering with Mileto in the coming years to grow their base of subscribers across Brazil while delivering news, sports, and entertainment in the best image quality."

The partnership is poised to leverage SES's extensive satellite network, which includes a fleet of geosynchronous orbit (GEO) and medium earth orbit (MEO) satellites. This infrastructure is crucial for providing consistent, high-quality video content and seamless data connectivity, ensuring that Mileto's customers enjoy uninterrupted access to a broad selection of programming.

SES, headquartered in Luxembourg and listed on the Paris and Luxembourg stock exchanges, is known for its global reach and commitment to delivering exceptional content experiences. Its collaboration with Mileto marks a strategic expansion into the Brazilian market, aiming to capitalize on the growing demand for high-definition television and reliable satellite services.

This agreement is not only a milestone for SES and Mileto but also a testament to the enduring relevance of satellite technology in the digital age. By facilitating the distribution of diverse and high-quality content across Brazil, this partnership is set to redefine the viewing experience for countless households, reaffirming the pivotal role of satellite networks in bridging the digital divide.
