[CES2024] Samsung to showcase new gaming monitors at CES

SEOUL -- Samsung Electronics will showcase new organic light-emitting diode display gaming monitors at the Consumer Electronics Show, the world's largest annual electronics exhibition held in Las Vegas, targeting hardcore gamers.

According to the South Korean electronics maker, three new monitors -- "Odyssey OLED G8", "Odyssey OLED G6", and "Odyssey OLED G9" -- will be introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) scheduled to be held from January 9 to January 12. The G8 model features a 32-inch, 4K ultra-high definition (UHD) resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio, maximum 240-hertz refresh rate, and response time of 0.03 milliseconds. The G6 model comes with a 27-inch quad-HD (QHD) resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio, maximum 360-hertz refresh rate, and 0.03 milliseconds of response time. The G9 model is a 24-inch model with new features added to the existing models.

All three new products feature organic light emitting diode (OLED) glare-free technology which minimizes light reflection and provides a consistent level of brightness and color for gaming without the need for a separate glare hood.

The Odyssey OLED G9 and G8 houses the "Multi Control" feature to enhance the user experience through smooth device connectivity. The feature allows users to control Samsung monitors, Galaxy Book laptops, tablets, or phones, and easily move images and text between devices with a single mouse and keyboard.

These two products also feature "SmartThings Hub," which supports the Matter and Home Connectivity Alliance (HCA) standards, allowing connection and control of various internet of things (IoT) devices without a separate hub.

"Along with game genres, gaming platforms are getting more diverse," Chung Hoon, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics' Visual Display Business Division, said in a statement. "Samsung's new OLED Odyssey gaming monitors will empower gamers with more immersive game environments and innovative technology that personalizes their gaming experiences — meeting and exceeding their evolving needs."
