Emart24 said in a statement on that the third store, located in Ho Chi Minh City, will start operations on December 7. The shop of about 6,930 square meters, which is around the size of a soccer field, also sells products from No Brand, a budget food and daily supplies brand, and agricultural products like strawberries. The company said its an average of 300 pizzas and 500 rolls of Gimbap were sold everyday at its first store.
Emart24 plans to expand the range of products from No Brand to meet demands for South Korean products among Vietnamese consumers. At its second Vietnamese store, the proportion of No Brand sales accounted for about 10 percent of the total amount. The convenience store operator has launched its business in Singapore and Malaysia. As of August 2023, the company had 39 stores in Malaysia and 3 stores in Singapore. Emart24 aims to build 300 stores in Singapore by 2028.
Other South Korean convenience store operators are also striving to expand their markets into different Asian regions. BGF Retail, the operator of South Korea's major convenience store franchise CU, was operating 300 stores in Mongolia and 130 stores in Malaysia as of March of this year. The Mongolian store in Ulaanbaatar sells South Korean-style fried menus and Tteokbokki, a menu of finger-sized rice cakes simmered in fiery-red spicy chili sauce.
