“Zootopia 2” has surpassed 3 million moviegoers at remarkable speed.
According to the Korean Film Council’s box office data on the 6th, “Zootopia 2” recorded a cumulative 3,143,786 viewers as of 12:22 a.m. on its 11th day of release.
This matches the pace of “Inside Out 2,” the top-performing foreign film at the Korean box office in 2024. It is also 14 days faster than “Elemental,” the beloved Disney·Pixar animation that attracted 7.24 million viewers, and 15 days faster than “Moana 2,” which ranked No.3 worldwide in box office revenue in 2024. The film is raising expectations for its final box office performance this year.
“Zootopia 2” follows the beloved duo Judy and Nick as they chase a mysterious snake named Gary, whose appearance shakes the entire city. Their pursuit pulls them into a dangerous new world filled with thrilling investigative adventure.
“The People Upstairs” has risen to second place. It drew 28,541 viewers in a single day, reaching a cumulative total of 84,734.
“The People Upstairs” depicts the unpredictable events that unfold when the upstairs couple (Ha Jung-woo, Lee Ha-nee) and the downstairs couple (Gong Hyo-jin, Kim Dong-wook) end up sharing a dinner together due to nightly, unusually loud noise issues. The film features performances by Ha Jung-woo, Gong Hyo-jin, Lee Ha-nee, and Kim Dong-wook.
“Jujutsu Kaisen: Shibuya Incident X Culling Game” dropped to third place with 25,750 moviegoers, bringing its cumulative total to 103,535.
The film depicts the epic storyline surrounding curses: the “Shibuya Incident,” in which the strongest modern jujutsu sorcerer Gojo Satoru is sealed, and the “Culling Game,” a deadly battle orchestrated by the notorious sorcerer Kamo Noritoshi.
In fourth place is “The Informant,” starring Heo Sung-tae. It attracted 17,239 viewers for a cumulative total of 64,957.
“The Informant” follows former ace detective Oh Nam-hyeok (Heo Sung-tae), who has lost his passion, willpower, and investigative instincts after being demoted, and an informant, Jo Tae-bong (Jo Bok-rae), who has been collecting money by providing information on major cases. The two accidentally get involved in a high-stakes crime scheme, leading to a crime-action comedy.
Following behind, “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2” ranked fifth with 12,096 moviegoers, reaching a cumulative total of 32,734.
“Five Nights at Freddy’s 2” portrays the reopening of the original Freddy’s Pizzeria, notorious for eerie rumors and ghost stories, as animatronics return to the outside world and revive the terror franchise.
