According to Kakao Entertainment on the 28th, the popular IP Taxi Driver is experiencing a dramatic surge in audience engagement following the premiere of SBS’s Friday-Saturday drama Taxi Driver 3.
Weekly views for Kakao Page’s Taxi Driver: Recall jumped nearly 64-fold during the first broadcast week of the drama (November 17 to November 23), compared to the week prior to the premiere (November 10 to November 16). The ripple effect extended across the franchise, with Season 1 of Taxi Driver soaring 33x, and the prequel Taxi Driver: Born in black recording a fourfold rise in weekly views during the same period.
This powerful crossover momentum appears to stem from the combined influence of the original webtoon’s gripping revenge narrative and the drama’s renewed popularity. Kakao Page’s Taxi Driver has long been praised for its exhilarating action sequences and tightly woven revenge-driven storyline centered on protagonist Kim Do-gi and the revenge-for-hire Rainbow Taxi Company. Season 2, Taxi Driver: Recall, continued this momentum, while the currently serialized prequel, Taxi Driver: Born in black—depicting Madam Chae and Kim Do-gi’s internship days at Rainbow Transportation—is receiving strong positive response.
The drama Taxi Driver 3, which premiered on the 21st, topped its time slot from the very first episode, achieving a peak rating of 11.1% and an average of 9.9% in the Seoul Metropolitan Area (Nielsen Korea standard)—marking the highest premiere viewership for any mini-series this year.
