Actor Hyun Bin unveils a menacing charisma.
The production team of the Disney+ original series 'Made in Korea' released a poster and character teaser video on the 19th, showcasing Hyun Bin’s commanding presence.
'Made in Korea' is set in the 1970s, an era when chaos and rapid development coexisted in the Republic of Korea, depicting an intense confrontation between Baek Gi-tae (Hyun Bin), who seeks to reach the pinnacle of wealth and political power by using the nation as his profit model, and Jang Geon-young (Jung Woo-sung), a prosecutor who relentlessly pursues him to the edge, amidst massive events that penetrate the era. Hyun Bin takes on the role of KCIA Section Chief Baek Gi-tae.
Having explored a wide spectrum of genres through works such as the 'Confidential Assignment' series, 'The Point Men', 'Harbin', and the drama 'Crash Landing on You', Hyun Bin now embraces a darker and more complex persona in 'Made in Korea'. Baek Gi-tae burns with relentless ambition for wealth and power, leading a daring double life as a KCIA Section Chief at the center of state authority and a businessman plotting high-stakes ventures. Through this character, where charisma and cold rationality coexist, Hyun Bin aims to reveal the raw face of desire and deliver an overwhelming screen presence.
The released 'Baek Gi-tae' poster radiates distinctive charisma, featuring Hyun Bin’s piercing gaze wearing a wiretapping device over a silhouette reminiscent of the Korean Peninsula. Coupled with the copy “I am a businessman,” it heightens curiosity about the business empire Baek Gi-tae intends to build and the dangerous ambitions hidden behind it.
The character teaser video begins with a striking silhouette of Hyun Bin’s profile in a black-and-white tone. Tension quickly escalates as Hyun Bin’s narration declares, “This board is a fight where someone has to die. That won't be me.” Sharp cuts and suspenseful music further deepen the immersion.
His cold stare into the camera, paired with calm yet assertive gestures, effectively captures Baek Gi-tae’s ruthless and unwavering personality, arousing curiosity about how he will navigate this intense power game. The following line, “I will drag down those who have greater power than me and eventually change the world. Because the world is originally a battlefield for the powerful. A battlefield where someone's death becomes an opportunity for me,” reveals Baek Gi-tae’s unshakable belief in pursuing greater power in an era ruled by strength — leaving a lingering impact.
‘Made in Korea’, which promises gripping tension through explosive acting synergy from a trusted cast and a narrative deeply reflective of the era, will release 2 episodes on December 24 (Wed), 2 episodes on December 31 (Wed), 1 episode on January 7 (Wed), and 1 episode on January 14 (Wed), for a total of 6 episodes.
